John Stephenson has over 35 years in the Construction ndustry. After serving a recognised Apprenticeship as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer, achieving City & Guilds Advanced accreditation, work commenced on new build housing schemes in the North West of England. Returned back to full time study for The Institute of Clerks of Works finals l & ll. Upon completion of the ICW course, a Clerk of Works position was obtained in the City of London for an Architects practice, working on high profile office developments for a major city Client.
Since then, numerous schemes have been completed in both the private and public sector, commercial and residential. The most recent employment ommenced in 2000 with a National Housing Association as part of the Development team, to deliver their Social Housing programme. Responsible for ensuring the Partnership schemes were delivered to a high standard; Medbourne in Milton Keynes is an example of the high standard achieved, gaining the first EcoHomes xcellence Award in the City. Additional experience has been gained on EcoHomes and Sustainability programmes and responsible for delivering the Code for Sustainable homes. In 2004, in recognition of contributions made towards the ‘Atlas Project’, which promoted modern methods of construction and more efficient construction processes, a presentation was given by Lord Bassam at the House of Lords: “John Stephenson has been one of the main drivers of the Atlas Project since its inception and has ensured that design and quality standards have been exceeded, and processes kept simple.” As a Design and Technical Manager, for the last 14 years, responsible for the compliance and quality control of new build and regeneration schemes on behalf of the Association. John is a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works Construction Inspectorate of Great Britain and Ireland and Construction Skills Certificate Scheme; with extensive Construction Industry knowledge that is now offered to you through JVS Site Services. |
